SharePoint 2013: “Database is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended” after March 2013 Upgrade

When the above warning is displayed in SharePoint 2013 Central administration, do the following:

  1. Verify the database status:
    1. Navigate to “Central Administration -> Upgrade and Migration -> Review Database status”. This will display the status of all the SharePoint 2013 database which needs is in compatibility range and upgrade is recommended
  2. Upgrade the content database:
    1. Get the content database(s) in your SharePoint:
      1. Get-SPContentDatabase -site <your SharePoint web url>
    2. Upgrade the content databases
      1. Upgrade-SPContentDatabase <DB Name>
  3. Run the PSConfig.exe:
    1. Navigate to folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\BIN  (or)  C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\BIN
    2. Run the following command in command prompt: PSConfig.exe -cmd upgrade -inplace b2b -force -cmd applicationcontent -install -cmd installfeatures
